House floor plan
- Input
- 1,117,145-byte AutoCAD 2004 DXF.
- Output
- 585 × 556 PNG of 34,610 bytes at the default; 1218 × 1157 and 78,474 bytes with dpi 300, in 0.4 s after the layout step.
DXF → PNG gives a quick picture of a CAD drawing for a chat, ticket or listing; detailed plans need a higher dpi than the default to stay legible.
From real runs
| Element | Result | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel size | Changed | Drawings are fitted to about 293 pt before rendering, so the floor plan was only 585 × 556 pixels at 144 DPI and 1218 × 1157 at dpi 300. |
| Line work | Kept | Walls, door arcs and fixtures are crisp; PNG keeps one-pixel lines without smearing. |
| Colours | Kept | The schematic's black line work and the floor plan's blue, red, green and cyan layers kept their colours on a white background. |
| Small text | Changed | On the floor plan, room names such as MASTER BEDROOM are a few pixels tall at the default 144 DPI and readable at dpi 300. |
| Dimension figures | Lost | Measurement numbers and MTEXT notes are missing from the image, just as in the PDF route. |
| Area | Kept | The image is trimmed to the drawing extents with a small margin, so there is no empty sheet around the plan. |

We converted our AutoCAD DXF sample (183 KB) with Office engine → Image engine on 2026-10-20. It took 1.8 s and produced a 29 KB PNG file, 84% smaller than the input. The engine raised 2 warnings, listed below.
Input · sample.dxf · 183 KB
187,638 bytes
Output · sample.png · 29 KB

ezdxf (Python)
pip install ezdxf matplotlib && ezdxf draw --background WHITE --dpi 150 -o plan.png plan.dxfRenders the dimension figures and notes; leave out --background WHITE for the dark CAD-screen look.
The HTTP API and the MCP server run the exact engine this page uses (Office engine → Image engine); the response carries the same warnings the web converter shows. Check support first with GET /api/v1/pairs?from=dxf&to=png.

CAD drawings are fitted to a small page before rendering. Raise dpi or set width, and the plan is redrawn larger with no loss of sharpness.
Not from this route; drawings are rendered on white. Use the background option of a CAD viewer or ezdxf if you need the dark look.
No. Save the DWG as an ASCII DXF in AutoCAD, BricsCAD, LibreCAD or Autodesk's DWG TrueView first.
