From real runs

What you get — and what changes

  • Slide text Kept

The rich ODP run kept Feedback Atlas titles, prepared-for text, KPI labels, bullets, and action items in PPTX slide XML.

  • Tables Changed

Table cell text survived, but ODP table geometry was rewritten into PowerPoint drawing markup.

  • Slide count Kept

The two-slide ODP source returned a two-slide PPTX package with slide1.xml and slide2.xml present.

  • Fonts Changed

Our office engine wrote a PowerPoint theme with substitute-capable font declarations rather than preserving every source font binding.

  • Master pages Changed

Impress master-page concepts became PowerPoint slide masters and layouts, which can alter placeholder behavior.

  • Animations Changed

Simple transitions may survive, but OpenDocument animation features do not map one-to-one to PowerPoint.

  • Speaker notes Changed

Presenter notes depend on our office engine's import and export mapping and should be checked in PowerPoint after conversion.

Sample conversions

Feedback Atlas ODP

Input
ODP created from a two-slide PPTX with title text, KPI table, two bullets, slipped-renewal note, and numbered decisions.
Output
The PPTX kept both slides and all tested text. The package grew to 46 KB and rewrote the OpenDocument drawing model into PowerPoint parts.

Sparse ODP fixture

Input
Minimal ODP fixture with one slide and no extractable body text in content.xml.
Output
Our office engine still returned a valid 24 KB PPTX with slide masters and a slide part, but there was no meaningful slide text to preserve.

A real OpenDocument Presentation → PowerPoint PPTX run

We converted our OpenDocument Presentation sample (13 KB) with Office engine on 2026-09-11. It took 457 ms and produced a 23 KB PowerPoint PPTX file, 1.9× larger than the input. The engine raised no warnings.

Do it yourself

LibreOffice

bash
soffice --headless --convert-to pptx deck.odp --outdir .

Review custom animations and masters in PowerPoint because Impress and PowerPoint do not share identical layout models.

OpenDocument Presentation to PowerPoint PPTX by API or MCP

The HTTP API and the MCP server run the exact engine this page uses (Office engine); the response carries the same warnings the web converter shows. Check support first with GET /api/v1/pairs?from=odp&to=pptx.

curl
curl -X POST https://filetypeconverters.com/api/v1/convert \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $FTC_API_KEY" \
  -F "file=@input.odp" -F "from=odp" -F "to=pptx" \

When this is the wrong conversion

  • Use /convert/odp-to-pdf when the recipient only needs to view or print the slides.
  • Keep ODP if the deck relies on Impress-specific masters, because PPTX will reinterpret those structures.

OpenDocument Presentation to PowerPoint PPTX questions

Does ODP to PPTX keep slide text editable?

In the rich test deck, titles, bullets, numbered actions, and table labels were present as PPTX text. Still inspect custom drawings because the object model changes.

Why did the converted file add PowerPoint theme parts?

PPTX requires theme, master, and layout XML. Our office engine generates those parts while translating the OpenDocument presentation package.

Can Impress animations be edited in PowerPoint afterward?

Some simple effects may map, but OpenDocument and PowerPoint animation semantics differ. Treat animation-heavy ODP decks as visual QA work after conversion.
