Is your file a scan?

When this is the wrong conversion

  • If you need the WebP image itself in another raster format, use /convert/webp-to-png or /convert/webp-to-jpg instead.
  • If a screenshot contains a table, /convert/webp-to-txt will be harder to audit than a spreadsheet extraction.
  • If the original web page is available, copy the HTML or export Markdown from the source rather than OCRing a screenshot.

WebP to Plain text questions

Do I need to convert WebP to PNG before OCR?

No. The tested WebP went straight through the Deep Read path. Convert first only if another OCR tool in your own workflow cannot open WebP.

Why does TXT still show Markdown-like bullets?

The model uses simple text markers to express visible list structure. Those markers are useful for review, but they are not embedded formatting.

Will WebP compression change OCR accuracy?

It did not change the clean screenshot sample. Small fonts, aggressive quality settings, and chroma blur can still make characters less certain.
