When this is the wrong conversion

  • If you need headings, links, and tables as markup, use /convert/docx-to-html or /convert/docx-to-md.
  • If page layout matters, /convert/docx-to-pdf keeps the document closer to print form.
  • If images need to travel with the result, TXT is the wrong destination because it cannot embed media.

Word DOCX to Plain text questions

Does DOCX to TXT include footnotes?

Yes, our document engine includes the note text. The footnotes become bracketed plain-text references rather than live Word footnote fields.

Can the TXT table be pasted into a spreadsheet?

Not directly in every case. The run produced aligned text with divider rules, so you may need /convert/docx-to-html or a table extraction workflow for cleaner columns.

What happens to images in DOCX to TXT?

The binary image is not exported. If the DOCX has alt text, our document engine can leave that text in brackets so readers know an image was there.
