What you get — and what changes

  • Slide boundaries Changed

    Each slide begins with an HTML comment such as Slide number: 1, which is useful for review but is not a Markdown heading.

  • Slide titles Kept

    Real PowerPoint title placeholders became Markdown headings in the Q3 activity deck we converted.

  • Tables Changed

    The Metric/Q2/Q3 table converted to a GFM pipe table, but its position moved before the slide title in the Markdown stream.

  • Bullets Changed

    Bullet text was extracted as separate lines; list markers from the slide were not consistently retained as Markdown bullets.

  • Images Lost

    Slide images, previews, and decorative shapes were not emitted as separate Markdown image files in this route.

  • Speaker notes Changed

    Our document extractor can surface speaker-note text when it is present, but it does not rebuild PowerPoint notes pages or presenter metadata.

  • Theme and layout Lost

    Theme fonts, coordinates, background fills, and master-slide layout rules disappear because Markdown has no slide canvas.

When this is the wrong conversion

  • Use /convert/pptx-to-pdf when reviewers need the slide canvas, logos, and speaker-facing layout preserved.
  • Use /convert/pptx-to-odp when the next edit will happen in our office engine rather than a Markdown editor.

PowerPoint PPTX to Markdown questions

Why did my slide table appear before the heading?

Our document extractor extracts objects by its internal reading order, not by the visual order you see on the slide. In our board-deck run, the Metric table came before the slide title even though the title is visually above it.

Does PPTX to Markdown keep speaker notes?

Speaker-note text can be included when our document extractor can read it from the package. The output is still prose, not a PowerPoint notes-page reconstruction.

Are screenshots exported from the presentation?

No separate image files are written by this pair. Convert the deck to PDF or export media from PowerPoint if screenshots need to travel with the text.
