What you get — and what changes

  • DRM Lost

    Encrypted Kindle purchases fail; the tested inputs were fixture and generated MOBI files without DRM.

  • Pagination Changed

    MOBI has reflowable text, so our ebook engine created new PDF pages rather than preserving any reader page positions.

  • Text Kept

    The visible prose and report text rendered into selectable PDF text in the generated files.

  • Images Changed

    Images render into fixed page boxes, and small embedded art may gain page-scale spacing compared with the reader view.

  • Metadata Changed

    PDF title markers were present, but Kindle-specific fields and library state were not part of the PDF.

  • Reader behavior Lost

    Dictionary lookup, adjustable fonts, locations, and Kindle navigation controls do not carry into a static PDF.

A real MOBI → PDF run

We converted our MOBI sample (11 KB) with Ebook engine on 2026-09-11. It took 1.4 s and produced a 37 KB PDF file, 3.5× larger than the input. The engine raised no warnings.

paper_size
Use a4 by default here, or set letter when the PDF will be printed in North American office workflows.

API reference

When this is the wrong conversion

  • Use /convert/mobi-to-azw3 if the target is a newer Kindle app and fixed pages are not needed.
  • Use /convert/mobi-to-epub if you need a reflowable archive for non-Kindle readers.
  • Do not use PDF when adjustable font size is the main reason the file is readable.

MOBI to PDF questions

Why did my MOBI page count change in PDF?

MOBI does not store fixed print pages. Our ebook engine lays out new pages based on the selected paper size and its own rendering defaults.

Can MOBI to PDF keep Kindle locations?

No. Kindle locations and reading progress belong to the Kindle ecosystem, not the PDF format. The conversion keeps content, not device state.

Does MOBI to PDF work with protected books?

No. DRM-protected files fail before usable content is available. This path is for unencrypted personal documents and ebooks you can legally convert.
