A real MOBI → EPUB run

We converted our MOBI sample (11 KB) with Ebook engine on 2026-09-11. It took 301 ms and produced a 17 KB EPUB file, 1.6× larger than the input. The engine raised no warnings.

Edit title, author, and language before converting old MOBI files that were created from filenames.

When this is the wrong conversion

  • Do not use this for Kindle purchases locked with DRM; conversion cannot start.
  • If you only need to read the book on a Kindle, keeping MOBI or sending EPUB to Amazon may be simpler than round-tripping.
  • For exact page appearance, convert to PDF or locate the original source document instead of reconstructing from MOBI.

Can DRM'd Kindle books be converted to EPUB?

No. DRM'd Kindle books cannot be converted here. Only unencrypted MOBI files and personal documents work.

Will the output be EPUB 2 or EPUB 3?

Most MOBI conversions produce EPUB 2-style content because the source format has limited CSS and older ebook semantics.

Why did image quality change?

MOBI stores images in Kindle-friendly ways. Extracting them into EPUB can re-encode or rescale images, especially screenshots.
