VSDX → PDF turns every tab of a Visio drawing into a PDF page, so a flowchart or network map can be read, printed and signed off by people who have never had a Visio licence.

A 13-page process document came out as 13 PDF pages in the same order, and the four tabs of a network diagram (Structural, Physical, Logical, Rack) became four pages.
Page names
Kept
Each Visio tab name becomes a PDF bookmark, so the sidebar in a PDF reader lists First Page, MVP, Document Content Release and TEFO Change History for our four-page test.
Page size per page
Kept
A file mixing A4 portrait cover pages with one 32 × 22.8 inch planning sheet kept both sizes: 595 × 842 pt for the cover and 2314 × 1645 pt for the big sheet.
Shapes, connectors and arrowheads
Kept
Boxes, routed connectors and double-headed arrows in the WAN and wireless network page landed where Visio drew them, with the arrows still pointing the right way.
Shape labels
Changed
Labels stay as selectable text, but Calibri and Segoe UI are replaced by Noto Sans or Liberation Sans, so a label sized to fit its box can wrap one word earlier.
Gradient fills
Changed
A rectangle filled with a two-colour gradient came out as one flat blue.
Theme styles in newer drawings
Lost
In two of the nine .vsdx drawings, shapes styled only through the Visio theme were missing: a logistics map lost its truck and warehouse icons and most connectors, and another page kept only its labels.
Hyperlinks
Lost
The 13-page document carried 19 shape hyperlinks; none of them are clickable in the PDF.
Layers and background pages
Changed
Layers are flattened into one drawing and shapes on a layer set not to print are left out. A background page is drawn under the pages that use it and also appears once more as its own page at the end.

Sample conversions
Four-page product plan with mixed page sizes
Input
593,942-byte .vsdx: three A4 portrait pages (cover table, release sheet, change history) and one 32 × 22.8 inch MVP planning sheet full of swimlanes and icons.
Output
103,216-byte PDF, 4 pages, in 2.7 s. Each page keeps its own size and the tab names are bookmarks; small grey labels on the planning sheet switched to Liberation Sans.
Network diagram, four tabs
Input
238,720-byte .vsdx with Structural, Physical, Logical and Rack pages, A4 portrait, connectors between WAN, wired and wireless boxes.
Output
286,529-byte PDF, 4 pages, in 1.9 s. Connectors and arrowheads match the drawing; the dense rack page is the largest part of the file.
Logistics map built on theme styles
Input
204,099-byte .vsdx from a recent Visio: supplier, truck, warehouse and office icons joined by labelled arrows.
Output
7,890-byte PDF with only one label and a stray arc. The conversion succeeds, so open the PDF before you send it on.
A real Microsoft Visio → PDF run
We converted our Microsoft Visio sample (233 KB) with Office engine on 2026-10-20. It took 2.8 s and produced a 280 KB PDF file, 1.2× larger than the input. The engine raised 1 warning, listed below.

The exact route, and the only one that keeps hyperlinks and theme effects. Visio for the web can also download a PDF of the current page.
Microsoft Visio to PDF by API or MCP
The HTTP API and the MCP server run the exact engine this page uses (Office engine); the response carries the same warnings the web converter shows. Check support first with GET /api/v1/pairs?from=vsdx&to=pdf.
If someone needs to keep editing the diagram, send the .vsdx itself or import it into draw.io or Lucidchart; a PDF cannot be edited as shapes.
If the diagram is going into a slide or a wiki page, VSDX → PNG gives one image per page directly.
If the drawing relies on clickable links between pages, export from Visio; links do not survive this conversion.
Microsoft Visio to PDF questions
How do I open a .vsdx file without Visio?
Convert it to PDF here and open that on any computer or phone. For a quick look Visio for the web also opens .vsdx files from OneDrive, but it needs a Microsoft account and only shows one page at a time.
Does the PDF keep all the pages of my Visio file?
Yes. Every foreground page becomes a PDF page in tab order, each at its own size. Background pages are drawn behind the pages that use them and are added once more at the end.
Why are some icons missing from my converted diagram?
Recent Visio versions can style shapes entirely through the document theme. Our office engine does not read every theme setting, so those shapes can come out empty or not at all. If that happens, export the PDF from Visio or Visio for the web.
Can I convert a macro-enabled .vsdm file?
Yes. The drawing pages convert as usual and the macros are ignored; nothing in the VBA project runs or ends up in the PDF.
